Most of us have wondered why Windows' default file manager hasn't changed significantly for quite a long time. It's certain that many users might enjoy the fresh change but even more people would refuse to get familiar with a new file manager. Still, there are some alternatives you should definitely check out!
WinNC is a great example of an alternative file manager. It's developed for Windows 10 but it supports older versions of Windows as well. It costs €29.95 or around $33 for a single license. It implements an interesting tabbed interface with a dual-panel. That means you can browse two folders at the same time and easily move or copy between them.
WinNC is not just a file manager but it also provides some interesting features. Connecting to FTP servers or networks has never been easier with WinNC. Besides creating ZIP files, you can also create self-extracting executable files, split or merge files, and use basic encryption and decryption. We also love the ability to run a slideshow of all images in the currently selected folder or save an MP3 playlist of audio files.
Being advertised as a Windows 10 file manager, it's safe to say that we have expected a more unique and modern design. WinNC provides plenty of features, to be honest, but paying more than $30 for a file manager feels quite a lot. It probably won't replace your File Explorer but it can come in handy.
